In a campuswide announcement Monday evening, associate chancellor Khira Griscavage announced that UC Berkeley will launch a Police Accountability Board, or PAB, in the upcoming fall semester.

The PAB will review investigation reports of police misconduct against UCPD officers. The board will also be responsible for providing input and making recommendations to the UCPD chief.

The launch of the PAB comes after the 2021 UC Community Safety Plan, according to the email, which requires each campus to have its own board.

Recruitment is underway for the board and will include two undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members, staff members and community members. Each board member is expected to serve for two to three years.

Nominations for the board will be accepted until Aug. 11 via a form in the announcement email.
