It means something and it's a positive thing to happen here in Vallejo.’" Dougherty said. "I think that having the Maker Faire here is a good example of how the community isn't just about San Mateo and San Francisco and Silicon Valley.”

Throughout their performance, both poets offered a powerful representation of how Latine identity finds power in a literary world that leaves them on the margins. Their writing, then, serves a means for activism, conscious creation and meaningful representation.
