Whether it’s daylight savings time ending or having to bundle up in layers, I find the fall season and its presumed notions disruptive in my life. 

Housing options are known to be limited in Berkeley, and many students decide to jump the gun looking for the perfect place before they’re even halfway through their first semester. Others may wait until the very last minute and find themselves in a situation they wish they could get out of. Do you ever just come home, immediately crash into your bed and not move for the next, hmm, 10 hours (not counting bathroom and snack breaks)? I know I have. Honestly, there are few things I love more in this world than doing nothing in bed.

I speak English. I speak Hindi too. I think it’s perhaps most accurate to say I speak Hinglish. What does that mean? Well, I suppose I like to intertwine words from both languages, like braiding strands of hair. They come alive, taking on richer meanings, more context. I love my language superpower. My brain goes through a million phases before an exam, changing colors and eras as rapidly as Taylor Swift’s costume changes. One moment it’s embodying the “yes, academic weapon,” mentality, and the next it decides, “nah, academic victim actually.”
