When Berkeley housing market hope is lost / All beds would break the bank, yet none are free / I’ve got a way to vastly slash the cost / Of going to this university.

On the corner of Channing Way and Fulton Street peeks a familiar face. After you swing open the unlocked metal gate and walk up the cobblestone walkway, you can make out who’s hiding.

Campus junior Taylor Harvey became homeless on her 16th birthday.

How the interests of these different stakeholders — the park’s owners, residents and surrounding community — are prioritized will determine the park’s future, especially in light of campus plans to develop student housing on the site.

The building at 2400 Bancroft Way was once an old, ivy-covered, two-story building that blended in with surrounding shops, cafes and restaurants — that is, before it became a pit of dirt filled with construction equipment.
