Between the grammatical corrections and point deductions, Madame Lacascade always managed to squeeze in an “excellent sentence” or a coveted “très bien.” Through her own indisputable passion, she instilled in me not only a love of French but one of language itself.

So here I am, a few days before my 21st birthday, demanding myself to incorporate art into my day and honestly, it’s exhausting. But yesterday, when I arrived at Slim’s and Ezra Collective started dancing on the stage for us, I rediscovered what Balmeo had been saying this whole time.

On a campus as large as UC Berkeley, there are many different types of mentors. Teachers, fellow students and staff members all support one another in various ways. In this issue of The Daily Californian, we want to take the time to thank all these mentors.
