Campus administration released two separate statements regarding instructor and classroom policy following a pro-Palestine walkout on Wednesday, which drew hundreds of faculty and students to Sproul Plaza. 

Campus hosted an hour-long live discussion Sept. 12 with campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof and UCPD Chief of Police Yogananda Pittman, who spoke about UCPD and took questions from live attendees.

The California State Assembly has given final approval to AB 1307, which is now headed to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk and will take effect immediately if signed, permitting the contentious development of student housing on People’s Park.

People’s Park advocates filed a lawsuit against UC Berkeley Monday, seeking $4.5 million in damages for destruction that occurred during campus’s failed attempt to begin construction on the park last August.

California lawmakers are attempting to bypass ongoing litigation in the state Supreme Court to directly approve UC Berkeley’s student housing plan on People’s Park.

On June 1, the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology alleged UC Berkeley failed to disclose a $240 million donation from the Chinese government and asked NSF to implement new research security protocols.

Newsom’s revised proposal now accounts for a projected $31.5 billion “shortfall,” or deficit, an increase from the governor’s January budget which estimated approximately $22.5 billion in deficit, according to the May revision.

Resources for Community Development, or RCD, the developer of the supportive housing at People’s Park, has pulled out of the project, according to an RCD statement.

In a letter sent to UC President Drake on April 21, members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs informed Drake that the UC system has failed to “expeditiously” return Indigenous ancestral remains and cultural artifacts.
