The Bears needed every point they could get to outduel Washington State 42-39. And it began with their first offensive possession, a 12-play, 65-yard drive capped off by a touchdown from tight end Jack Endries.

In one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season, Cal squared off against Stanford in the second leg of the Big Clásico. In the battle for the third spot in the Pac-12 standings, Cal needed at least a tie to fulfill its wishes.

Winning 42-39, Cal beat its conference opponent, Washington State, with tremendous defensive performances. Recording two defensive touchdowns and six sacks, the Bears were led by the defensive side of the ball Saturday.

After a resounding home victory against San Diego State, Cal gears up for what will be the final game of the season against none other than rival Stanford. This time, though, the Bears will have to face their nemesis in the latter’s backyard in Palo Alto.

Cal welcomed Stanford to Edwards Stadium for the first of two Big Clásico this year. As one of the most anticipated games of the season, the Bears and Cardinal battled it out in an electrifying matchup as both sides worked tirelessly to be crowned the victor.

My parents always supported my journey as a baseball player, and I am appreciative that they did so. Perhaps if they did not, I would not have had such a passion for baseball. This same passion brings me hope when I see signs indicating more involvement of South Asian representation in American sports.

The first inning grand slam against No. 2 Stanford, courtesy of hot-hitting Carson Crawford, was the highlight of a fantastic opening weekend for Cal. This was just one of numerous plays that went Cal’s way in a nearly perfect start to the 2023 season.

Cal’s loss to Stanford raised some existential questions about the state of the program that are not easily answered, but with home matchups against the Washington schools, the Bears will at least be presented with a short-term opportunity to snap their losing streak.
