As members of the External Affairs Vice President’s office (EAVP) of the Associated Student of the University of California (ASUC) at UC Berkeley, we stand united in supporting the Southside Zoning Modification Project. We urge the City Council to adopt Item 13 as presented, as it is a critical step toward building a brighter future for UC Berkeley and the Southside community.

I can’t help but feel that a part of me will always think skinnier is “better” because of the environment I grew up in. However, by appreciating the American take on body image, I’ve learned to believe that all bodies are beautiful and we should never dictate our worth based on the number on a scale.

Whether you're out of state or simply not from the area, all incoming freshmen and junior transfers were fed the same lie when they first came to UC Berkeley: San Francisco is just 15 short minutes away!

UC Berkeley's industry collaboration in technology research is a double-edged sword. There are tremendous benefits that have lasting ripple effects from these partnerships, but it also speaks to the tenuous relationship between private interests and public universities.

I was ignorant about the extent of antisemitism before coming to UC Berkeley. I now solemnly realize that this is an all-too-familiar story for Jewish people everywhere as I find myself begging for my community to be valued as human beings.

During the many times I’ve had a friend group fall out or grow apart, the following weeks certainly felt like a genuine loss. Yet grief seems to just be emblematic of the lasting love we had for our friends, and that is a comforting reminder that these relationships are worth pursuing.

If we’re in doggy, does it mean he thinks my face is ugly? I can’t ride for too long, otherwise he’ll see my belly pooch. In missionary, my boobs start to fall to the side, so I either have to put my arms above my head or find a way to push them together.

I ask that you grow strong and stay gentle. For better or worse, things will change, and the world will need you to be ready for what is next.

Now, I realize why she made such a big effort to do all those little things. She was teaching me to love being Japanese — even after the whole nation had told our family to hate ourselves for it.

Languages aren’t just different ways of saying words, they are our main method of communication. Language barriers can ruin so much more than I could’ve imagined. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the relationship I once had with my extended family members.
